Getting to the Pelican Boardwalk Boogie
There are two... no, four... ways to get to the Pelican Boardwalk Boogie:
- Floatplane: Try A.S.S. Air (seriously, that's their name... Alaska Seaplane Service) for $160 each-way at (907) 789-3331. Salmon Air also flies in and out of Pelican, but we don't know their number. Charter boats and flights may be arranged between most southeastern towns and Pelican if you make arrangements ahead of time and are independently wealthy, a friend of Frank Murkowski, or otherwise loaded with ill-gotten gains. Check the phone book for Ward Air, Wings, L.A.B., etc.
- Your Own Boat: if you have one, and know how to get to Pelican, then go crazy. Be sure to buy your Boogie-Only ticket (only $75!) before you leave or from a sashed volunteer when you arrive. Bring a friend.
- The Official Boardwalk Boogie Boat: We sell package tickets that include a one-way ticket to
paradisePelican on the Boogie Boat. The trip home will be via the Alaska Marine Highway State Ferry (you'll need to buy a one-way ticket from Pelican to Juneau from them). - Teleportation: ...and right afterwards you can teleport your ass to a Trekkie convention. Nerd.
Package Boardwalk Boogie Tickets are $165. This package price includes your Boogie ticket/button and one-way transportation to Pelican from Juneau. You can buy tickets from Collette at Costa's Diner (on the Wharf), 2 Marine Way, downtown Juneau. Call (907) 463-2663 for more ticket info (You are responsible for purchasing your return ticket on the AMHS state ferry).
The Boogie Boat (an Allen Marine Catamaran) departs Auke Bay Harbor Thursday, May 22nd at 3:00 p.m. sharp. This boat will arrive in Pelican around 7:30pm.
Notes: This is NOT the AMHS ferry terminal or the Allen Marine dock! The captain has strict instructions to leave at exactly 3:00 pm. If you are late, you will miss the boat without a refund. You can arrive as early as 2:15 pm to load up, and the more gear you have, the earlier you should be. Check-in with whomever looks official; probably someone carrying a clipboard. One you're checked-in, don't leave the area, as we won't be responsible for finding you and dragging your ass onto the boat when it is time to cast off.
A Note on Gear: Please try to limit your gear to two reasonably-sized pieces or three smaller ones. There will be limited space on board and if we go over-weight, we'll have to ro-sham-bo for who gets to bring their booze / banjo / go-go boots.
Getting Home after the Boogie
Oh, yeah-- that part. The Alaska Marine Highway System State Ferry leaves Pelican at 3:00pm on May 26th (note the change!) and arrives in Juneau at 11:00pm. Tickets can be purchased online at the AMHS website. Don't miss the boat or you're chartering a pricey floatplane home (see #1 above).
A Note for Boogiers traveling from outside Southeast Alaska
Alaska Airlines has a great fare sale as of April 1st AND you can apply the special 10% Boogie discount to Alaska Air flights into Juneau (Discount Code: ECCMB0160).
